SSL (Puchong) Stroke Rehabilitation Center is a charitable organization established by Yayasan Kebajikan SSL Strok Dan Pembangunan Masyarakat to assist individuals suffering from injuries, lost of functional and physical ability to restore the highest level of functionality and independence as possible. With the motto “A Community Based Rehabilitation Center, To serve the People, By the People”, we aim to help the poor and needy to rebuild life and hope from disabilities and diseases.

STROKE REHABILITATION

Integrating clinical and evidence based practice, therapists will assess and evaluate patient’s functional ability. Based on assessment outcome, therapist will provide appropriate treatment and training including:

· Activities of daily living (ADL) training
· Physical function
· Balancing
· Sensory integration
· Co-ordination
· Pain management
· Musculoskeletal training
· Electrotherapy
· Adaptation aids, prescription and training
· Environment evaluation and modification
· Wheel chair or mobility aids, evaluation and training
· Cognitive assessment and training
· Social and leisure activity


SPORTS INJURY & MUSCULOSKELETAL REHABILITATION

Wide range of drug-free techniques is used to relieve pain, restore function and movement and prevent further complications, including:
· Joint mobilization and manipulation
· Therapeutic exercise and stretches
· Exercise programs to improve range of motion, increase muscle strength, improve flexibility and mobility and increase endurance
· Soft tissue massage
· Breathing exercises and techniques
· Back and neck traction
· Pain management
· Fitting and care for casts, braces and splint (orthoses) or artificial limb (prostheses)
· Gait (walking) retraining and methods of safe ambulation (including the use of a walker, cane or crutch)
· Help with obtaining assistive devices that promote independence
· Patient and family education and counselling
· Stress management and emotional support
· Ergonomic assessments and work related injury prevention




SENIOR DAY CARE CENTRE

The Senior Day Program is a supportive leisure program to provide an environment for seniors to enjoy in social and recreational activities. The activities include:

· Musical entertainment
· Gardening and outdoor appreciation
· Special event & birthday celebration
· Nutritious lunch & snack
· Monitoring blood sugar & vital signs

OBJECTIVES

PKKII aspire to become Malaysia first organization fully equipment to conduct research and to provide treatments, special education, training and coaching to brain injured children as well as their parents and public.

PKKII provides the following services :-
1. Provide accurate information on “Brain Injured”
2. To train more coaches and counsellors
3. Conduct public seminars
4. Carry out research
5. Education financial assistance
6. Provide special education to patients
7. Provide psychological development to patient

WHAT IS “SPECIAL CHILD”?

“Special Children” can be categorised as follow:-
1. Undernourished and frail children
2. Children with multiple handicaps
3. Emotionally disturbed and autistic children
4. Children with speech defects
5. Crippled and cerebral palsied children
6. Blind and partially sighted children
7. Children with learning difficulties
8. The communicatively handicapped
9. The physically handicapped

BEHAVIOURAL ASPECTS OF AUTISTIC CHILDREN

1. Difficulty mixing with other children
2. Insistence on sameness resists change in routine
3. Inappropriate laughing and giggling
4. No real fear of dangers
5. Little or eye contact
6. Tantrums-displays extreme distress for no apparent reason
7. Sustained odd play
8. Apparent insensitivity to pain
9. Echolalia (repeating words or phrases in place of normal language)
10. Not responsive to verbal cues, acts as deaf
11. Spins objects
12. In appropriate attachment to objects
13. Difficulty in expressing needs, uses gestures or pointing instead of words
14. Noticeable physical or extreme under activity, over activity
15. Uneven gross / fine motor skills (may not want to kick ball but can stack blocks)
16. Prefers to be alone, aloof manner
17. May not want cuddling or act cuddly
18. Unresponsive to normal teaching methods
